PDFCreator 1.0 preview

Thanks for all the hard work on a new release.

I did not see the Yahoo toolbar install options.... nore the bar itself.  Did it get removed?  I am not complaining just checking.

The Excel total page numbering bug I have posted about before and others have seen is still there. 

The magin's bug may be still there but hard to tell at first glance.

Not sure but the bug about not printing all part of some web pages may be fixed.  I would like others that also saw that issue to check.

The output size going to the hardware printer is still huge, can anything be done about that?

Also, there is a margins issue when printing to the hardware printer, the output is cut off on the sides.

Both of these issues have been discussed on the forums already and advised during the new release they will be corrected. Please let me know if you require further details. 

You didn't answer the first question, does the new version still have malware included or not?

It is not malware! There is a search bar tool and some search changes as two distinct choices. They default to on, but can be unchecked; they must be unchecked in both places. It just requires reading everything during the install.

Neither of these are to my tase, but defaulting them to install profides funds to support PDFCreator development, so I would not complain.

How about we'll just call it "shit that you don't want on your computer that you have to be tricked into installing"?  No one actually wants the search bar installed.  Do a search for it, and you'll only find links here, links to the toolbar company, and 13,000 links from people trying to remove it.

So, back to the question.  Is it still there, or is it gone?

There are other free choices available to you for this functionality, so if it really bothers you so much, you can try a different one. I still think this is the best choice available.

By now, I would guess that you know how to uncheck the options that you dislike. So I think you can cope with it if it is still included in 1.0.

On 64-bit Win7, still goes to "wrong/old" C:\Program Files (x86)\PDFCreator.

Maybe the installer is 32-bit?

This is correct. PDFCreator is a 32bit application but works perfect on 64bit system.

Sorry, I get an error 481 under Windows 7 64 bit.
Any test printing ends with an error 481.
An Idea ?

The "PDFCreator" printer has a comment of "edoc printer". Suggestion/recommendation to change that to www.pdfforge.org  as a google on pdfcreator gives so many false hits and commercial versions.

Ver. 1.00 has the same problem as seen in 0.98 and 0.99. 

After a few prints, it stops to catch the printing, and printjobs just disappears into nothing.

Usually I can get it to work by having the pdfcreator-program running in a window in the background or minimized, but not allways.

(Maybe this problematic behavior started, when I switched to Chrome as my internet-browser, but I am not sure).

Please download version 1.0 again. I have fixed this in the last days.

I found :
 

1) If PDFCreator print monitor is running, then PDFCreator works correctly.
 

2) If PDFCreator print monitor is not running, then PDFCreator produces an error 481.
 

3) When I get an error 481, to workaround the problem, I must first close the error window and next run PDFCreator print monitor.

If you print with chrome or IE or notepad?

Yes, If I try to print directrly with Notepad or IE this works correctrly, but  the PDFCreator print monitor' buffer files should be empty first.

Remember, If I try to print a document using Word 2007 and "PDFCreator monitor" is not running in background, the PDFCreator task fail with an error 481.

The 1.0.0 PDFCreator preview has really been a development snapshot, that is every time I notice a change in the version control system, the preview has also been updated. I love this!

Would you consider providing a link to a development snapshot after 1.0.0 is released? That way, when there are problems, users can try the latest snapshot.

At the moment we are working on a new printer monitor dll. And we hope that this fix all problems. :-)

I think that this is a good idea. We will discuss this in the team.

I downloaded PDFCreator 1.0.0 because 0.9.9 cuases an error when run on a Terminal Service environment and I still get the same error.

The error is:

75 (PATH/File access error)

Modul = modINIFastRead

Procedure ReadToString

Line 50050

Our Terminal Server uses Roaming user profiles.

Back on the error 481. If I print a test page with PDFCreator, always works well. If I print the same test page, so that Word runs in the background, I still get the error 481.

Just tested the preview on my Win 2003 Server with Terminalserver installed. The well known crash problem  if going to the settings is solved now.

The "options" button works now under Windows 2003 X64.

But I have another problem: the changes makes in the configuration works good for the current job, but are not saved for the following print job.

Is this a bug of version 1.0.0?

Found a bug in Windows Server 2008R2 64-bit when installed as non-server:

You cannot change the "Check Update" interval and make it remember.

It forgets the setting after you exit the programs and resets to weekly.

Also found a weird looping action happening when you launch the desktop icon (pdfCreator - PDF Print monitor) and monitor in Procmon.

PDFCreator checks the following Keys (and others) about twice a second

-Why check it every second? The values it picks up don't change very often.

Now I have tried ver 1.00 compiled on may 5 and may 13, without this problem at all.
